I want to open a scapstore

I live on the on the line between Welwyn Garden City and St Albans. I know there is one in WGC and I am a memeber there but I am looking for a site in St Albans or Stevenage. I want to have a gallary type area in the store so people can show off what they make. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this. I really am so into this and love seeing kids and adults eyes light when they make someing great out of scrap.
I have been doing alot of reading and I am waiting for a ring back about the funding clinic. I am not that great with the reading and ligel side of things but I have help with that. I am sorry if there is a scapstore in the two plases I am taling about I did check first and couldn't find any there. Is there an giuld line about opening a new store and how close it should be ?
Any pointers would be great.

Lovely to read your enthusiasm about starting a scrapstore and its great that you've had a look to see who is already operating in the area you're thinking about. One of things many people dont realise is how important the collaborative spirit of scrapstores is to the success and survival of individual scrapstores, which is another reason your posting your intentions here is so appreciated.
The first step for anyone wanting to start a scrapstore is to speak to the scrapstores nearest to them. Scrapstores often have a wide membership and stock feed area and opening one too close could adversely effect the existing scrapstore or indeed make it harder to start a new one.
Provided boundries are respected you will no doubt find them and the rest of the scrapstore community; can be an invaluable source of support and information; as they may well know of more suitable opportunties further afield; so it is really important to approach them in the right way before your plans get too established.
Provided there is no conflict of interests we would then be happy to accept you as a member of scrapstoresUK and you then be able to access more information about how to start and create a surviving, thriving scrapstore.

I am so glad you came back yo me I was starting to worry I had already done something wrong. I spoke to the chap from the bristol scapstore and I have chatted with a few other people working in or runnng scapstores and I am startig to get more of an idea where to start. I think you may be the Nikki the chap at bristol said I should chat with about funding and that sort of thing. I am looking for a site to do a starting pilot at the moment.

I know you are a member of Aylesbury Scrapstore as processed your application form last week and met you while you were shopping, there is also a Scrapstore at Milton Keynes, Northampton and Watford which would be quite close to you.

Hiya Liz, Yes, I love your store you have a fab location. I would love to find something like it for what I want to do but in my area. I have been to watford too, they are very nice there. I had a lovely chat with the ladies in Milton Keynes and the chap from bristol. I haven't seen the Northampton yet. I really like seeing how they are all set out and it's given many bew ideasI am finding everyone is very nice and I am very much looking forward to working together and really getting people into using and helping and bring apart of there scapstores.
