We Came, We Saw, We Crafted
Reuseful UK were thrilled to attend Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair for the first time between 22nd – 24th June 2018. The Fair was held in the beautiful grounds of Bowood House and blessed with sunny skies over the weekend. Over 1,100 crafters joined in the with the free Make and Take activities of making peg butterflies, brooches and bunting.
We were delighted to meet and talk to truly lovely celebrities; Kirstie Allsopp, Liz Earle and Sarah Raven. Nikki DiGiovanni, our CEO presented each of the hosts with a scarf, kindly donated by Artichoke. These unused scarves were commissioned for one of the UK’s largest public participatory arts projects; The Suffragette Centenary Procession. The procession took place in all UK capital cities: London, Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh with the scarves being a little piece of history.
Over the weekend we talked to thousands of people who were fascinated to learn about Scrapstores and previous members who were thrilled to learn that even though their children had grown up, many Scrapstores would welcome their custom and donations.
As always successes on this scale are team efforts between Reuseful UK’s team, Wiltshire Scrapstore and Resource Centre's team and Bits and Bobs Scrapstore all of whom went above and beyond the call of duty, both preparing, setting up/taking down for the show and of course all the hours talking, smiling and supporting people to make their butterflies, brooches and bunting.
Reuseful UK recently coordinated a huge donation of the centenary scarves which come in white, green and purple. They are very versatile and so far we have seen them used for a whole host of ways. Block printing them is proving very popular and this has been used at our recent Love Your Home Events. The scarves are spread all over the network, please visit your local Scrapstore and use our directory to check availability.
