Safety in the sun

Hi all

We have been asked to support a safety in the sun project and they would like us to make hats. Does anyone have any hats we can decorate or any ideas for making them from scrap?

Hi Linda,

A few years ago Lesley Thomas (Peterborough Scrapstore) and I did workshops with 700 scouts who made hats out of the unused hospital cardboard type of utensil trays or they may have been bed pans. The kids had a riot tying on corks etc. Another idea would be to weave together strips of something sturdy like plastic packaging waste or the bale ties. I'll add a couple of photos of version made out of palm leaves to illustrate the idea.
