Discover our Aladdin’s cave of materials including paper, fabric, card, buttons, trimmings, paint, sequins and more for shapes, texture, colour, sticking, bending, draping, drawing, shining, rolling, painting, counting, sewing...

The Scrapstore is a re-use charity, providing clean materials for art, craft, design and creative play, donated as surplus by eco-friendly businesses.

We are always seeking new members from the education, community and charity sectors including schools, nurseries, theatre, therapeutic and community groups, students and families.

In exchange for a very reasonable annual fee, you can visit us to collect materials as many times as you like within the membership year.

WOW Scrapstore
WOW is a Scrapstore based in Barnstaple, North Devon. Run by Action for Children, WOW stands for “What Other’s Waste” and aims to collect, reuse and sell waste from local businesses and individuals. We want to reduce reusable clean waste going into our local landfills.
We function as both a collection area and storage for donated scrap, a shop and a meeting place for those wanting to get creative. Our easy to join Membership scheme allows access to all our wonderful scrap!
Though we are located at Barnstaple Library, the area of benefit is much wider. We collect waste from all over North Devon and redistribute it through Childrens Centre’s, schools, groups, clubs and societies.

Anyone can use us, new users will have to register which will cost £1 for a life time registration.
Along with the scrapstore we also have a large art & craft shop which stocks a wide variety of items, ideal for children, card & scrapbook enthusiasts, artists and many more.
We also have a range of equipment that is available for hire by both community groups and general public(restrictions apply)

ZigZag Scrapstore
Most of our scrap donations come from commercial sources: upholstery companies, a jewellery brand, house clearance companies, art materials suppliers, big charity shops, places that have closed down such as a local art shop, art school and art gallery etc., and we also take domestic donations from people whose loved ones have died, or where they've had a clear out. Just like every other Scrapstore, the phrased 'Aladdin's Cave' and 'Treasure Trove' get used a lot when people see the stuff we have amassed for them.
